DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 2001-TJ-004, between Winnebago County and the Iowa Department of Transportation, transferred that portion of Unsigned Iowa 971 from east corporation limits of the City of Lake Mills connecting with Main Street; then curving in a northeasterly direction through Section 1-T99N-R23W to a point approximately 600 feet east of the W ¼ Corner Section 1-T99N-R23W; then east following substantially the center section line of Section 1-T99N-R23W to the Winnebago-Worth County line at a point near the E ¼ Corner Section 1-T99N-R23W Winnebago County (W ¼ Corner Section 6-T99N-R22W Worth County) to county jurisdiction October 15, 2001.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the old description of Unsigned Iowa 971 and its extensions in Winnebago County be deleted and the new description be included in the Primary Road System.

New Description - Iowa 971 and its extensions in Winnebago County described as follows:

Lake Mills:

Beginning on Main Street at Lake Street (junction US 69); then east and northeast on Main Street to the east corporation line (approximately 680 feet south of the W ¼ Corner Section 1-T99N-R23W).

Due to the transfer of jurisdiction agreements for Iowa 105, Iowa 105 in Winnebago County became Unsigned Iowa 971 in 1993.

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that Unsigned Iowa 971 in Winnebago County, as described in the attachment, be added to the Primary Road System.

New Description - Unsigned Iowa 971 and its extension in Winnebago County described as follows:

Lake Mills:

Beginning on Main Street at Lake Street (Junction US 69); then east and northeast on Main Street to the east corporation line.
